Jie Liu is an artist and photographer living and working in Munich. He was born in Xi’an, China and studied there Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts Xi’an. He lives since 2003 in Germany, where he studied fine arts from 2004 to 2011 at the School of Art and Design Kassel.
The series of photographs Criticality was finished in 2005 and 2006. During the creation stage, the artist focused on the expression of individual feelings. The works of this period also reflect his thinking about the uncertainty of the future. Through this photo project, he tries to characterize his own state of existence in a different way of artistic presentation. Using photography as a concrete and objective medium, the artist shows the abstract expression of emotion and feelings.
